A group of Oklahoma World War II veterans loaded up and made the trip to Washington D.C.

It’s called Honor Flight. It is a program that gets World War II veterans to D.C. so they can see the memorial and other sites in the D.C. area.

The trip takes place all in one day!!! So it is a bit crazy. Leave for the airport at 4 in the morning - make it back home around 11 at night… a bit tiring bit definitely worth it.

The Sunday before the trip the veterans were honored at a reception in Oklahoma City - and then they took off bright in early the next day.

The trip was really neat - and I believe the veterans had a great time. Some said the trip brought back some really tough memories - but some said it was the greatest day of their lives.

It was truly a honor to be able to sit and talk with these guys. I met who was at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked - and another gentleman who was actually on site to see the flag raised at Iwo Jima. You can see him at 2:19.

Since the trip was so tight - we didn’t get to spend that much time at any one site. So that made filming a bit tough - aside from having to deal with some bad rain.

That said - I believe the trip was overall a huge success - and was so impressed with the demeanor and class the vets carried themselves.

This was truly a great trip to be a part of.
